Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I'm very excited to introduce Pixicular to the community today. The Backstory (and our Pivot) 🔄 We actually started this journey as "AI Photo Detect." Our initial mission was singularly focused: build a robust, proprietary model to identify AI-generated images. However, we quickly learned that developing a highly accurate AI detection model from scratch takes significantly longer than anticipated. Instead of keeping our developer infrastructure locked away while we perfected that one feature, we realised we could provide immediate value by opening up our platform. So, we pivoted, rebranded to Pixicular, and expanded our vision. What is Pixicular? 📸 Pixicular is a B2B SaaS platform offering a powerful, developer-friendly API for comprehensive photo analysis. Rather than reinventing the wheel for standard computer vision tasks, we are utilising Amazon Rekognition under the hood to offer a suite of highly reliable, enterprise-grade endpoints right out of the gate. Our current API capabilities include: - Age verification: Instantly estimate age ranges from faces within an image. - Object & scene detection: Accurately label items, architecture, and environments. - Moderation: Detects unsafe or sensitive content — nudity, violence, drugs, hate symbols, and more. - Text extraction: Extracts lines of text found in the image using OCR. - Face emotions: Returns confidence scores for eight emotions for each face detected. Built for Developers 💻 We know that developer experience is everything, so we designed the Pixicular dashboard to be as frictionless as possible. On our platform, you get: Clean, straightforward API documentation. An interactive API testing tool (just upload a photo right on the site to see the analysis and JSON response!). Full detection history logs. Simple, secure API key management. What’s Next? 🚀 Our original vision isn't gone! We are still actively developing our proprietary AI-generated photo detection model, and it will be seamlessly added as a new endpoint to the Pixicular suite as soon as it meets our quality standards.
