This is an interesting and very well designed app!
The rise of selfie-culture makes me love the concept of this app. People want to take photos in cool and beautiful locations. When you're somewhere new, it's not always easy to track these places down. This app makes it easy to find those spots and take perfect selfies!

📷 Backstory
I’m a 20-year photographer in the Canadian Armed Forces. When I’m not taking pics for the military, I do my job as a hobby. By night and weekends, I am a landscape photographer.
🤔 Problem
As a photographer, I waste hundreds of hours searching for places to take pictures. Whether we’re driving around aimlessly looking for stuff, searching the internet, or hiking in the bush. The vast majority of our time “taking pictures” is actually spent “finding places to take pictures of”. It’s easy to find the “postcard” shots, but when I travel I want to know about the spots to shoot only the locals know about.
To make matters worse, I am a 👨👩👧👦 father and husband with a pretty demanding full-time job. I really don’t have a tonne of time to waste for my hobby/job and wasting it doing research or hoping to chance upon something good.
🌄 Solution
One day while driving back from a frustrating but ultimately successful shooting experience at Cape Split in Nova Scotia (stunning place) I decided there must be a crowdsourced mapping app that let users log, shoot and share photo locations. I searched the app store for such an app and came up empty.
So, after a long conversation with my wife, and cashing in some of our investments, borrowing a bit from the bank of mom, and jumping in with both feet we built the PIXEO App. Engaging a local dev company, Mindsea, we got to work building the MVP.
We’ve spent the last several months now building the app, web presence, the company, and doing 🦍 guerilla marketing. As well we have sourced Creative Commons and PD images to get the app started and have carefully collected and curated 10,515 locations around the world (no bots or scrapes).
We hope PIXEO grows to be a collaborative community of enthusiast and pro photogs and we can make enough 💵 to build a desktop and Android version. I’m here to answer any questions you might have, and greatly appreciate any feedback.
