PixelArtForge is a powerful, web-based tool designed to convert any image into professional-grade pixel art instantly. With support for custom palettes (like GameBoy, NES, and PICO-8) and adjustable pixel density, it bridges the gap between modern photos and retro aesthetics. Perfect for indie game devs, NFT creators, and pixel art enthusiasts.

Retro vibes are just a click away! 🕹️

Hey Product Hunt community!

I’m the maker behind PixelArt.Online.

I’ve always been obsessed with the "crunchy" look of retro games—there’s something magical about those limited palettes from the NES and GameBoy era. But I noticed that most online converters are either too clunky, full of ads, or just don't get the colors right.

So, I decided to build a dedicated tool that’s fast, clean, and runs entirely in your browser. My goal was to make the transition from a modern photo to a stylized pixel masterpiece as seamless as possible.

What you can do with it:

  • Classic Palettes: Instantly apply authentic colors from the GameBoy, NES, PICO-8, and more.

  • Total Control: Fine-tune the pixel density and color depth to match your vision.

  • Privacy First: Your images are processed locally—nothing is uploaded to a server.

  • 100% Free: No hidden fees, just a tool for the community.

Whether you’re an indie dev looking for quick assets, a designer chasing a retro aesthetic, or just someone who wants a cool 8-bit avatar—I hope you find this useful!

I’d love to hear your feedback. Which retro consoles should I add palettes for next? Any features you're missing?

I'll be hanging out here all day to chat. Thanks for checking it out! 👾

That's awesome! I love pixelart.
Congrats on this launch.

Here is an idea for you:
Create a browser extension that allows me to turn any image I'm seeing on websites into pixelart.
This would be a great shortcut to get to your website.

@marcelo_bottoni Thanks for the congrats, Marcelo!

I love that extension idea—it’s a very creative way to bridge the gap between browsing and creating. we’ll definitely keep this in mind for our future ecosystem. Appreciate the inspiration!
