Piu Piu is a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari (also an ie accelerator) that allows you to share pictures and links using sound. It works across browsers and with the Chirp app for iOS or Android, allowing you to share with any device that can hear the sound. This is great for educators wanting to get students on the same page, for conferences, or individuals wanting to share something without needing any contact information.
It is similar to Google Tone but uses a birdsong sound that will always always direct to the same link (static), while the Tone sound is dynamic. A recorded Chirp sound will always work. I also recently read that the Chirp SDK has announced Ultrasonic, allowing you to share across devices with an inaudible sound. This could be big for advertising.
I know Michael has had this in the works for a while with more to come. Hardware?
Please give this a try, and let him know your thoughts. It's still in beta, but he gave me the ok to share here now.
