I do not know how many Shopify store owners use Pipedrive as their main CRM. What I did find was a real question from a real user: is there an app that connects Shopify data to Pipedrive? That was enough to make the idea worth exploring. The app helps Shopify merchants keep Pipedrive aligned with their store data. It syncs Shopify customers into Pipedrive contacts, syncs Shopify products into Pipedrive products, and gives teams useful Shopify context directly inside Pipedrive. I wanted to build a pet project that could have real usage potential, not just another demo. The idea came from Reddit. I found a discussion where someone was asking whether there was a known app that connects Shopify data to Pipedrive. That was enough of a signal: this was a small but real problem. At first, I tried building it with Claude. In a single evening, I spent more than $30 without getting any visible results. It required much more back-and-forth interaction to generate usable code, while I wanted to move quickly with as little intervention from my side as possible. I wasn’t using a Claude subscription; I was using the API and paying based on token usage, which is why the cost added up so quickly. That does not mean Claude cannot work well for this kind of project. But the experience pushed me to try Codex instead. I needed something that could carry the work from start to finish with less hands-on guidance. Codex felt different. It was not just an assistant suggesting code. It behaved more like a tool that could take on a task, make the necessary changes, check the result, and keep moving toward the end goal. It was not perfect, of course. But for my needs, Codex fit much better.
