Hi there! Who loves zombies??! Just finished this app and wanted to share it! Pinyin vs Zombies is a simple, silly little game for absolute beginner students learning Mandarin Chinese, especially those struggling with hearing and remembering the four main tones. Swiping and slashing similar to Fruit Ninja, zombies approach and you tap on them to play Chinese words. If you hear the first tone, you swipe straight across to mimic the first tonal direction. If you hear the second tone, you swipe diagonally upwards to mimic the second tonal direction, etc. Swipe the correct tones to destroy the zombies! It's a fun way for Mandarin learners to hear, identify and remember the tones by following the tonal direction with their fingers. It's not for practicing Chinese characters or vocab, but rather focusing exclusively on mastery of the four main tones, an important building block for learning the language.
