Too many website images are poorly optimized & unperformant, and it's too much of a hassle to fix them. Images are, in fact, often the most expensive asset on a website, and neglecting to optimize them can wreak havoc in multiple ways — most notably, user experience and SEO. Meanwhile, virtually all modern browsers support modern image formats like .webp, but a very small percentage of websites take advantage of them (by some estimates, as little as 8% do so!). And yet, it makes sense. When you’re running an organization at full speed, prioritizing stuff like this when “it works” is a hard case to make, especially when it requires technical investment or the expense of a team’s time. That’s whom I’m hoping to help with PicPerf. No need to move or upload your images elsewhere. No need to give up a bunch of time configuring your site to automate image optimization on its own. PicPerf will automatically optimize, reformat, and aggressively cache your site’s images just by modifying the URLs you’re already using.
