Very unhappy with Pickaxe Team (let me down)
I grabbed the AppSumo lifetime deal Tier 3 for Pickaxe, expecting the features and API access they advertised. After months of using it, I’m honestly pretty frustrated.
What went wrong
* Features I relied on were pushed behind new “Pro” tiers or outright locked.
* I thought the API access that came with the lifetime deal for AppSumo accounts would carry over when the deal ended, which is not the case. I can’t build the integrations I planned.
* Newer, better LLMs are blocked for AppSumo users unless we pay again. That undermines the entire purpose of the deal.
* Support’s replies were vague or felt defensive when I asked for answers. No clear timelines, no meaningful compensation.
* The product feels unstable for real work, missing essential features such as true memory, conditional logic, export/versioning, and frequent changes, which make it unreliable for clients or production.
If you require stable API access and guaranteed models for production work, consider a provider with clearer, more stable contracts.
I haven’t used it in a while, so some things may have changed. However, from talking to others, it still appears that there is no API access, which is the most crucial feature I need, now locked behind Pro at $150 a month, while it still requires commission fees. They should include the API in the Appsumo Tier 3 and Gold Tiers.
Hi David,
Sorry to hear you're disappointed. To be clear, we repeatedly told folks we would not be extending API access to LTD buyers. We consider it an advanced feature, and it's available on the Pro tier.
We do not block any LLMs from LTD folks, so you may have outdated information there.
As far as support, I think you'll find we have the best support team in the world. We always reply in less than 24 hours if you contact us at info@pickaxe.co. Please reach out with any questions.
As far as your missing feature claims... we actually do have many of the features you mentioned! Though I'll admit, we do put out new features all the time and it can be tough to keep up. See here for all our feature releases: https://community.pickaxe.co/c/releases-and-features/10
It sounds like you don't actually have access to the API, so if you're saying our API is unstable, I'd say you should try it out first.
Best of luck, and we encourage you to keep using Pickaxe, and to upgrade to Pro!
