PhotoLoci helps you visualize your photo library on an interactive map. Rediscover the places you've been and the stories behind every photo. Your personal photo geography, reimagined.

I recently launched this small app called PhotoLoci, and I wanted to share it here in case it’s useful to others.
I built PhotoLoci mainly because I never liked the map view in Apple’s Photos app. I often find it hard to accurately find photos taken at a specific place. In contrast, I really enjoy the clarity of the map experience in Google Photos, and I wanted something similar for iCloud Photos.
PhotoLoci lets you explore your photo library directly on a map. Instead of scrolling through albums, you can see where your photos were taken, spot clusters of memories, and zoom into specific locations to rediscover trips, cities, or everyday places.
One feature I personally find very useful is the ability to add a location to photos that don’t have GPS data (for example, photos taken with a camera). You can simply long-press on the map to assign a location, and the photos will then appear naturally in the map view.
What people usually like:
- Finding photos from a precise location more easily
- Seeing travel history as a map instead of a timeline
- Rediscovering forgotten places and moments
- Adding locations to older or camera photos without GPS
The app is privacy-friendly and works entirely with your own photo library. No accounts, no uploads.
If you’re curious, PhotoLoci is now released on the App Store, available on iOS, iPadOS and MacOS. Thanks for reading, and I’m happy to answer any questions.
