Hey Product Hunt! I'm Gily, a runner and solo developer who built PhantomRunner in my evenings over the past few months. This is my first Product Hunt launch, so be gentle! What it is: PhantomRunner connects to your Strava account and compares your runs to historical race results. Example: your 10K at 5:00/km pace would place you 14,571st in the 1988 Boston Marathon field (out of 28,000+ finishers). Current data: - 54 marathons (NYC Marathon 1970-2024, Boston Marathon 2025) - 1.49M finisher results - More races and distances coming based on your feedback Planned expansion: If this validates, I'll add: - Olympic races (10K, marathon, half marathon) - Major marathons (Berlin, Chicago, London, Tokyo) - Other distances (5K, 10K, half marathon events) - Age-group rankings Who it's for: Data-obsessed runners (like me!) who want to measure themselves against actual race history, not just other Strava users or local segments. If you've ever wondered "how would I do against the 1980 NYC Marathon field?" — this answers that. My story: I'm a recreational runner who loves metrics. I got tired of only comparing myself to random Strava users, so I built this to race against historical legends and see where my pace stacks up. It's been fun building it, but I genuinely don't know if it's useful beyond the initial "oh cool!" moment. What I need from you: Honest feedback! Specifically: - Is this engaging enough to use more than once? - What races/distances would you want to see added? - Would this be worth $2.99-4.99/month, or is it more of a free novelty? I'm at a crossroads: if this validates, I'll keep building it out. If not, I'll pivot to another idea. Current status: Fully functional beta. Free during testing. Uses official Strava OAuth integration. For the PH community: Free beta access for everyone! Just connect your Strava account and start comparing. Your actual usage patterns will help me decide if this is worth continuing. Really appreciate you checking it out. Hit me with your honest thoughts — including "this is pointless" if that's what you think! 🏃‍♂️
