I work with PGP regularly and used Kleopatra for the last couple of years. The thing that got me to switch was the standalone mode: I have PGP Manager on a USB stick with my keys and config in the same folder, and it runs on both my Linux and Windows machines without installing anything. Key management is also just simpler, less clicking through menus to do basic things. And the clipboard detection saves me real time every day. I copy an encrypted message and it's already decrypting, signed stuff gets verified in the background and I only see a notification. Sounds small but it adds up when you handle encrypted messages daily.

What needs improvement

The UI is honestly already the best I've seen for a PGP tool, but some parts could still use polish. Nothing that stopped me from using it, just rough edges here and there. It's also a young project, so I'd expect that to improve.

vs Alternatives

Kleopatra (used it the longest), GPG Frontend, and the plain gnupg CLI before that.

What's great

I use PGP Manager across my machines to encrypt text and manage keys without having to install GnuPG manually every time. The clipboard auto-detect feature is super clever, copying an encrypted block or key automatically brings up the right action, which saves a lot of back-and-forth clicks.

What needs improvement

Really solid for a young project. Maybe adding drag-and-drop support for .asc key files or a few quick keyboard shortcuts in future builds, but the current tray-focused workflow already does the job super well.

vs Alternatives

I used to deal with Kleopatra on Windows and raw GnuPG terminal commands on Linux, which always felt inconsistent across different OS setups. Having one clean, open-source app that works identically on every system, and can even run portably from a USB stick, makes key management way less of a hassle.
