Hey Product Hunt founders, let me share some of my story behind Pepitt.
A while back I set myself a challenge, which is to learn Chinese on my own. No teacher, no classes. I started going to a French-Chinese exchange in my city, and I noticed talking to real people taught me FAR more than any lesson ever did.
All of the local, oral only expressions that you need with other locals.
The things you don't really find through the means of the traditional language learning journey. And worst of all, I was losing a good 80% of what every conversation gave me
Indeed, you can't ask someone to stop while you note down everything you want to remember. So you nod, you keep talking, and by the end of the night most of it is gone. That was a gap worth fixing for me.
Pepitt is the tool I wish I'd had back then: just press record, stay in the conversation (instead of interrupting everyone), then deal with the notes and flashcards afterwards. Une pépite is a French word meaning "a nugget", a rare and precious find.
I wanted to keep as many "golden pieces" of learning material as I could through others, that is where the name comes from.
