I kept giving in to things I didn't really need... food delivery, impulse buys, small decisions that added up. So I built Pengu. A simple app that helps you pause before giving in. Log temptations, reflect on your decisions, and build streaks of self-control. Most apps track what you already did. Pengu focuses on the moment before.
I didn't build Pengu because I was broke.
I built it because I kept saying yes too easily.
Food delivery. Impulse decisions.
Alcohol. Smoking. Endless screen scrolling.
Small choices that didn't feel like a big deal... until they became a pattern.
What I noticed is that most apps try to help after the decision is made.
Track your spending. Analyze your habits.
But the real battle happens before.
That small moment where you either pause… or give in.
So I built Pengu around that exact moment.
- Instead of focusing on money, it focuses on awareness and self-control:
- Log temptations in real time
- Reflect on your decisions
- Build streaks of control (not perfection)
This started as a personal tool, but I realized a lot of us struggle with the same thing.
Would love to hear your thoughts:
👉 Do you think awareness alone can change behavior?

Really strong concept. I like the focus on simplicity and behavior at the moment of decision - that’s where most apps fall short. Awareness alone might not be enough for everyone, but it’s definitely the foundation for real behavior change. I’m a developer as well, and I’d be interested in helping expand this if you’re ever open to collaboration.

@david_wang39 Really appreciate that, David 🙌
For now I'm focused on building this as a solo developer and continuing to iterate on the product.
But I'm always open to feedback, if there's any feature or improvement you'd love to see in Pengu, I'd really like to hear it.
