Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Jorge, solo founder from Buenos Aires. I built Peekr app because every app
I tried to track my watchlist felt like a spreadsheet — not a social network.
Peekr is what I actually wanted: a social feed where I can see what my
friends are watching, rate things, discuss them, and get recommendations
from the community — not from a streaming algorithm trying to keep me on
their platform.
Some things I'm proud of:
→ Built entirely on Supabase (Realtime, Auth, Edge Functions, Storage)
→ Flutter app for iOS & Android, launched solo
→ AI-powered recommendations based on what your community rates
→ 640+ editorial articles already indexed for discovery
→ 0 paid marketing — just building in public
Peekr is free. No subscription, no paywall.
Would love honest feedback — especially on the onboarding and the social
feed. What would make you actually open this app instead of Letterboxd or
Goodreads for movies?

Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Jorge — solo founder, building Peekr from Buenos Aires.
I built Peekr because every "movie tracker" I tried felt like a spreadsheet with a dark mode. The recommendations always came from algorithms designed to maximize my screen time — not from people whose taste I actually trust.
So Peekr is the app I wanted: a social feed where I can see what my friends are watching, rate things, discuss them, and get recommendations weighted by how close someone is to me in the network. Closer taste-buddy → louder rating. Boring math, surprisingly good results.
A few things I'm proud of:
→ ~300 active users in the first 2 weeks, 60% on Android, zero paid marketing — entirely organic through Instagram creators
→ Built entirely on Supabase (Realtime, Auth, Edge Functions, Storage)
→ Flutter app for iOS & Android, shipped solo
→ Recommendations driven by your community's ratings, not platform incentives
→ 640+ editorial articles already indexed — an automated pipeline drafts, I approve in one click
→ Spanish & English from day one (LATAM is the underserved market for movie-social apps)
Peekr is free. No subscription, no paywall, no "premium tier" for basic features.
🛠️ Honest weaknesses I'm wrestling with:
• Onboarding asks for ~10 ratings to seed your feed — feels long to me too
• The For You feed needs ~5 follows before it really sings (cold-start is real)
• Comment density is strong on top titles but sparse on indie/older films — the social conversation builds with the community, and we're still in week 2
💬 What I'd love feedback on today:
1. The first 90 seconds — did onboarding feel friendly, or like work?
2. Two feeds (For You + Following) vs a single merged feed — what would you ship?
3. If you've used Letterboxd: what would make you switch, or run them in parallel?
I'll be here all day responding to every single comment. DM me anywhere — @jem_peekr.
