Hi Product Hunt, I'm Vanja. My wife and I make Paw-Paw.
It's a little animal that lives in the corner of your Mac's screen. It taps along as you type and click, naps when you stop, and now and then says something kind. As you work you earn XP and unlock new Paw-Paws and items for them to wear. Clicks beside it go straight through to the window underneath, so it never gets in the way.
The latest version, 0.2.3, opens on a new Home page with news and your progress, and a short tour that starts right beside your Paw-Paw on the desktop. You choose which season or collection earns your XP, Open All handles a pile of gifts at once, and signing in on another Mac brings your progress along in one step. Updates download in the background, and new items can arrive without an app update.
Paw-Paw is free, with no ads, subscription or required account. Both seasons, with dozens of Paw-Paws and 100+ items, unlock through play. There's one optional extra: the Illustrain Collection, with illustrations by Illustrain, for $2.99 once. We love cute art and want Paw-Paw to be a place where small artists' characters can come to life.
On privacy: Paw-Paw needs Accessibility permission to notice that a key or click happened. It counts those events and never logs or sends what you type. Analytics and crash reports are off unless you opt in.
A note on how it's made: much of the Paw-Paw and item art, and a lot of the code, was made with AI help, and I review, adjust and test all of it. The Illustrain Collection is the artist's own work.
It's a native Swift app for macOS 13+, on Apple silicon and Intel.
One thing I'd love to hear: which animal would you want on your desktop next, and what would it wear?
@vanja_i How cute... mmmmm💞💞💞
