I built Pausee after realizing I was spending 8–9 hours a day on my phone, mostly opening Instagram, YouTube and other distracting apps without even thinking about it. Instead of completely blocking them, Pausee adds a short pause before you open them, giving you a moment to decide if you actually want to continue. It also has scroll stopping, usage windows and mindfulness prompts. My screen time dropped to around 3–4 hours. Now I'm making it free for anyone who wants to try it.
I built this because I was honestly getting tired of myself.
I'd sit down to work, open Instagram for 5 minutes and somehow lose an hour. My screen time reached 8–9 hours a day.
I'm a developer, so instead of relying on willpower, I decided to build something that would interrupt that automatic behavior.
That's how Pausee started.
It's still early and there's a lot I want to improve, so I'd genuinely love to hear what you think.
Especially if you've tried other screen-time apps before, what made you keep using them or uninstall them?
