I'm absolutely delighted to announce the launch of PatchCue, a publishing platform tailored for Product Updates and Release Notes for software companies of all sizes. I (Matt, the maker) have over a decade of experience as a Product Engineer and Product Manager ranging from consumer-oriented startups to B2B enterprise SaaS companies. Through this experience, I've learned that failing to thoughtfully communicate software changes with customers can be a significant barrier to building trust and feature adoption. After observing that software companies of all sizes can struggle to adopt deliberate approaches to release communication, I set out to build PatchCue as a way to help these great organizations level start building more trusting relationships with their customers. PatchCue's initial feature list is very robust and will certainly continue to grow, but here are the highlights: – Thoughtful primitives like Release Channels, Product Versions, and Release Notes keep communication consistent and topical. – Customers can subscribe to product updates on a given Release Channel using Email, WebPush, or RSS, with more subscription preferences coming in the future – Your PatchCue Site (your customer-facing portal) theme is built on top of Liquid Markup and Tailwind CSS, and PatchCue's theme compilation generates CSS specifically for your site, allowing for more rapid theme customization. – Completely customizable Email and Push Notification Templates using Liquid Markup – Use PatchCue Site Passwords to use PatchCue with a private audience, or use Release Channel Passwords to maintain private release channels for specialized builds or Early-Access releases intended for smaller cohorts. – A robust API allows for Product Versions and Release Notes to be created using workflow automation/iPaaS tools like Zapier or Workato – I could have added so much more, but it was time to test the market and get feedback before making too many more assumptions! PatchCue is free to try for 30 days and offers a generous startup-friendly tier starting at only $40/month. Use promo code PRODUCTHUNT2024 for a 10% discount of your first 3 months of any paid plan!

PatchCue looks like a fantastic solution for managing product updates and release notes effectively. The structured approach with Release Channels and Product Versions makes organizing communications seamless. I especially appreciate the customizable email and push notification templates, which will help maintain our brand’s voice consistently. The ability to subscribe via Email, WebPush, or RSS offers great flexibility for our users. Integrating with workflow tools like Zapier is a huge bonus, making automation straightforward. Excited to try out PatchCue and see how it can enhance our communication with customers and streamline our release processes. Great job, Matt and the PatchCue team!

Congratulations on the launch. 🎉️ Quick question: why should someone use this over Canny?
Matt Becker
@ashitvora Thanks for the reply! I've not heard of Canny before, so I can only speak to what would make PatchCue a compelling option for someone evaluating both products: – They're looking for software with an opinion about *how* to communicate product changes more consistently and are seeking to develop that practice. – They already collect a lot of customer feedback, but are struggling to share meaningful product progress back to customers as it's made. – They're looking for a solution that offers more control over visual design and the customer-facing experience. – They are looking for something with an API, upon which an integrations with other systems can be built, without waiting for me to do it. :) Thanks again!
