Great idea! Apologizes if I ask some stupid questions as I'm in India, I cannot and do not use Spotify and also couldn't find any parties nearby to join and test the functionalities of the app.
My questions are:
1) Is it necessary for the user to keep the location on?
2) What happens when a person leaves the party (actual party, not on the app)? Can he/she still add songs and bump it up or down? If this happens, then he/she can easily intrude the party playlist even after leaving.
@palakzatakia thanks for the questions!
1) PartyOn was designed for people gathered in the same location, but once you start a party, you can also send people a direct link to the party from within the app. As of now, the party host needs location on when the party is started, but can be turned off once it starts.
2) You can only bump/dump songs when you're inside the party. We don't have a 'banned' user option yet but we're working on it...

Awesome concept and the execution is solid. Very intuitive , haven't had any glitches. Nice job!

Awesome! The perfect Saturday discovery. I'll give it a try tonight!
Why does someone need to have a Spotify premium account in order to create a party? Is this something that you have control over or are you doing this because Spotify requires you to? It looks like all you can do is join a party with a free Spotify account.
@madebyildi Spotify requires a premium account to stream music from a third party app. Making it as easy as possible to join and host parties has always been our biggest goal, so we're working on ways to allow everyone to host soon.

@brian_satorius cool I figured that was the case. I'm going to assume that SoundCloud and Apple Music have similar limitations when using their API?
@madebyildi Soundcloud's got an open API, but Apple Music's pretty restrictive, and is geared more towards the affiliate program rather than 3rd party apps. There was a discussion on PH when it launched https://www.producthunt.com/tech...

Aah nice idea, but Apple Music integration is a must for me :(

But is it legal to party with Spotify music in public?

@stephbel you are right, I think its not :P people do it anyway though.. hard to police it. But as a business I wouldn't encourage it
