Instead of reading the dense, full-length Torah text, families can enjoy short, child-friendly reads that keep the original narrative intact but take only minutes to consume. The site automatically detects this week’s portion and opens straight to the reading. Built for simplicity, it’s the perfect, distraction-free way to share ancient wisdom with the next generation before they go to sleep.
Hi! I'm Vesa, the creator of ParshaWorld.
The idea came from a simple need: traditional Torah texts are dense, making them hard for kids to approach. I wanted to turn the weekly Torah portion into short, engaging bedtime stories for families, keeping the narrative intact but making it as child-friendly as possible.
Here is how it works under the hood: Smart Auto-Routing: The site uses the Hebcal API to automatically detect the current weekly portion (seamlessly handling double-portion weeks) and opens straight to it. Content Generation: I spent a considerable amount of time training a fine-tuned model to generate these accessible retellings based directly on the original Hebrew text from the Sefaria API. Community Driven: Reader feedback is collected via a simple star rating at the end of each story. I highly encourage leaving feedback, as it directly helps me refine the texts.
What's next? The text is currently available in English only, but the immediate roadmap is to roll out as many languages as possible. I am also planning to extend the site to cover the weekly Haftarah portions soon.
