It seems that ParkMyCloud was founded on the premise that the cloud should be a true utility, like power, water or gas. As I know only too well people spin up instances in the cloud and then never turn them off, even if they are not using them, and even though they are typically paying by the hour. This is great for the cloud service providers (AWS, Google, Microsoft etc) but not so great for their customers. ParkMyCloud looks like a super simple tool which allows the parking (turning-off) of idle instances. Based on typical cloud usage patterns this typically means 20% plus in savings each month and potentially more. Based on my own calculations just parking instances we do not use on evenings and weekends should save us more than this - which is great.
