🙋🏻‍♂️Hi PH, I built a free blogging tool without a like button. The goal was to bring back the freedom of old blogs used to have. Freedom of writing anything you want without a specific purpose. It feels like blogging is very attached with sales and branding these days. Even Medium is like a text version of TED, which made me feel like that I have to write something valuable. I mean valuable for everyone. When I wanted to write something personal(not private as diary though), FB was not an answer, WP was too heavy for this. Long story short, it's an alternative blogging tool for your personal writings. So write whatever comes to mind. (PS. I also wanted to bring some vibe from duotone printing. 👨‍🎨)

@seoultonykim What do you mean that Medium is a text version of TED? I don't see that as a bad thing - I love writing on medium.

@christopher_lee4 @seoultonykim I think that comparison is totally accurate. In fact, I don't even mind Medium or TED talks. They're great for what they are. They're just " both engagement-oriented. Medium pivoted _into_ that with the clap button. TED talks are famously edited to perfection for easy consumption. This paper.coffee project seems to be something very different. Similar to Instagram experimenting with removing likes' visibility, this captures the same energy of "getting your voice out there" without the stress of whether it's appealing to one's audience. It's almost like the social equivalent of Ommwriter. Great idea!

I started with Medium with a similar view, but looking at what Medium has become, I'm skeptical of third party places to write valuable stuff.

I think the message "Discover the pure joy of writing" is very powerful. I'm curious to see how this evolves. How do you think you will add to the experience to make writers discover the joy? At the moment, when I log in its just a blank canvas. To me this feels the same as the Notes app on my phone. Maybe there's a way to help "ignite the flame" for writers! I've seen some apps give writers the option of a prompt (ex. How would you when the iron throne) to help facilitate thinking!

Pros:

Very clean. Easy on my eyes.

Cons:

The home page once you login is not intuitive.

Won't let me type a post from my Google pixel 2 phone. Every word I write is automatically deleted. First impression is it looks like Tumblr for writers.
