Pank is a vibe-based discovery app for bars, restaurants, nightlife, cafés, and travel spots. Instead of stars and long reviews, people use quick vibe tags like Hidden Gem, Tourist Trap, Great Music, Overpriced, and Date Spot — so you can find places that match your mood.
Thanks so much for all the feedback over the past couple of weeks. We’ve read every comment, message and suggestion, and one thing became really clear.
When we launched, we talked a lot about finding places by vibe.
But after talking to users, we realized that isn’t the biggest reason people come back.
The best recommendations don’t come from strangers.
They come from your friends.
Everyone has that friend who always knows the best restaurants, bars or hidden gems.
The problem is those recommendations disappear into group chats, Instagram stories, or random conversations. A month later you can’t remember the name of the place.
That’s the direction we’re now leaning much more into.
Pank is becoming a place where you can save your favorite spots, follow friends, recommend places to each other, and always have those recommendations in one place.
The vibe tags are still a huge part of the experience. They help you understand a place in seconds instead of reading dozens of reviews.
But now they’re combined with something we think is even more valuable: recommendations from people whose taste you actually know.

Curious how you keep the vibe tags from getting spammed or gaming the system, especially if you're letting everyday users add them. Is there some kind of trust score or moderation layer behind the scenes?
Tags like "Hidden Gem" and "Date Spot" actually feel more useful than star ratings when I'm picking a spot quickly. Love that it covers travel too, would help a lot on trips.
