Yes, I am seriously launching a workout app in 2026. Most interval timers do one format and put the rest behind a subscription. Pacelab mixes Tabata, AMRAP, EMOM, Circuit, Rounds and Timed in one session, free, nothing paywalled. The AI part is the actual difference. Connect Claude via MCP or ChatGPT via plugin and it writes workouts into your library, edits them, schedules them. iOS and Android.

I tried five workout apps. Every one of them wanted a subscription for what is, fundamentally, a timer that beeps.
Could I have searched a bit harder and find a free app that does what I want? Yes.
Would that have been just as much fun? Honestly yes, because building the app was only fun for about half of it. Writing the code, fun. Publishing it and finding users, not fun. Which is exactly what I am doing right now.
Anyway. Here we are.
Pacelab Intervals is a free interval workout app for people who don't need an animation on how a pushup works. You build a session out of Tabata, AMRAP, EMOM, Circuit, Rounds and Timed blocks, mix them however you want, and run it in your lunch break. No subscription, nothing paywalled, iOS and Android.
I have been training with it every week for six months. Most of that time was me finding things that annoyed me and fixing them. It is finally at the point where nothing annoys me enough to stop mid-workout and open Claude Code again.
It also has an MCP server. Connect it to Claude or ChatGPT and it writes workouts straight into your library, edits them, and schedules them. That's honestly what have been most helpful. What I usually type is "build a 20 minute workout based on my latest history" and it works decently.

No monetisation strategy at all, by the way. Ads eventually. Probably something subtle at the end of the workout, where you are cooling down anyway. Pinky promise. Anyway how would I hope to make money of a workout app in 2026? Let me dream ok!!!
Have fun.
PS: Claude told me to post this on Hacker News, then wrote a shitty post, which I rewrote, which Claude then rewrote again because I don't know how to write anymore. Then Hacker News told me I can't post. Then I tried Reddit. Reddit deleted it. So here I am on Product Hunt. (This is the only sentence I have written myself)
