Hey Product Hunt š
I'm Arsh ā Master's student at UTS Sydney, building OzNews as a side project while working part-time at a warehouse.
The problem I kept hitting: Australian news is either paywalled, clickbait, or takes 20 minutes to read. I wanted to know what was happening in my country without doom-scrolling.
So I built Tinder for Australian news ā swipe through 5 stories, 60 words each, every day. No account required. No paywall. Ever.
A few things I'm proud of:
ā The copyright model. We only publish facts, public record statements and Creative Commons content. Australian law is clear that facts aren't copyrightable. We always link back to the original journalists.
ā The swipe experience. Designed mobile-first. Each story takes 15 seconds to read. The whole daily briefing takes 60 seconds.
ā The growth. Started 3 weeks ago. 316 users, all organic from Reddit. No paid acquisition.
Would genuinely love feedback on:
ā What news categories matter to you
ā Whether the swipe format feels right
ā What would make you come back every day
We're also building a native app ā drop your email on the site to be first to know.
Thanks for hunting us š
