Cadence records your calls and in-person meetings, transcribes them, and identifies speakers entirely on your Mac. No meeting bot, no upload, no sign-up, works offline. Optional AI briefs run through the LLM you already pay for. Free, notarized by Apple.

Hi Product Hunt 👋
Every meeting notetaker I tried wanted the same two things: let a bot into the call, and let their servers keep the audio. For anything sensitive, like hiring, comp, customer calls, or a hard 1:1, that doesn't work. "We delete it after 30 days" isn't much of an answer either.
So Cadence does all of it on your Mac. It's a menu bar app:
- One click to record. Your mic and the call audio go to separate tracks, so swapping headsets mid-call doesn't kill the recording. Nothing joins the call, so nobody sees a bot in the participant list.
- Any Video Platform. Have a zoom meeting, then jumping to google meet for your next call? No problem! Works across all video meeting platforms with ease.
- In-person meetings too. "Record the room" covers standups, interviews, and the decisions that happen in a hallway, with each voice separated.
- Transcribed on your machine. Whisper-class models on Apple silicon, with a live transcript while you record. It works on a plane.
- Speakers get names. Cadence separates the voices on your Mac, then offers names from the calendar invite. Pick the right one and it sticks for the whole transcript.
- Calendar-aware. Recordings attach to the right meeting, and only when you say so.
There's no account, because there's no server to have an account on. The one exception is opt-in: if you turn on Meeting Brief, the transcript text goes to a tool you already have, like Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, or a local model in Ollama. Your existing subscription covers the summary, so there's no new API key to buy. It's off until you switch it on, your audio still stays put, and I never see any of it.
Cadence is free. macOS 14+, Apple silicon, signed and notarized by Apple.
I'd like to know what you do with meeting recordings today, and what would have to be true before you'd trust an app with the sensitive ones. I'll be around in the comments.
