OpenRadView opens the DICOM and NIfTI files from your scan CD or zip on your own computer: linked axial, coronal and sagittal views, experimental 3D and measurements. Optional MCP access for your own AI agent. It is a personal research project for education and has not been clinically validated. Ask a qualified clinician to interpret your scans; do not use the app for decisions about care.

Hey Product Hunt (again),
I lost my mother recently. She is the reason I started experimenting with this.
After a CT, MRI or X-ray, a radiologist reads the images and you get a written report. The images often come home too, on a CD or as a zip. Many discs include a viewer, but it usually runs only on Windows, so on a Mac you're left with files you can't open. OpenRadView is for people who want to see their own images anyway.
Point it at the disc, the zip or a folder, and it opens the DICOM or NIfTI files on your computer. You get linked axial, coronal and sagittal views, oblique planes, experimental 3D, and distance and angle measurements. No account, no telemetry, no upload.
It's free, open source, and written in Rust with egui and wgpu, so images render on the GPU: Metal acceleration on Apple Silicon, and it works on Windows and Linux with a dedicated GPU too.
There's no AI inside. If you want, an agent you already use, or a local model, can connect over MCP and ask to see a view. Nothing is shared until you allow it, and the agent's replies can be wrong.
It's a personal research project, not certified medical software. If something feels wrong, see a doctor and keep asking questions. Ask a clinician to interpret your scans.
It's an app I hope you never need.

Getting a scan disc home and finding you can't open it on your Mac sounds frustrating. Glad to see a way to look at your own files without uploading them.
I'm sorry about your mother, and thank you for building this. Most people will never build the tool they need, so it's good to see someone do it and give it away with no account and no upload.
