OpenFeed is a social network built as an open platform. Everything runs through one public JSON API with an OpenAPI 3.1 spec, and our own app at openfeed.eu uses nothing else. Build your own client, bring a space's feed into your community site, or make a tool on top of public feeds. Users sign in once on openfeed.eu and bring their account to every app. Try every route in the playground, no account needed. Chronological, ad-free, no profiling, hosted in the EU.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Martin, and I built OpenFeed.
OpenFeed is a social network, but the real product is the platform underneath it. Every account, post, space, DM and poll lives behind one public JSON API. The app at openfeed.eu is a reference client: it uses that same API for everything, with no private shortcuts. Whatever our app can do, yours can too.
Why build it this way
Big platforms have a habit of locking down or pricing out their APIs once they become inconvenient. I wanted the opposite: a network where the API is the product, so people can build the clients and tools they actually want. OpenFeed runs the hard parts: accounts, the social graph, spaces, moderation and EU hosting. Your app owns the experience.
What you can do today
• Read public feeds without an account: curl https://api.openfeed.eu/v1/feed
• Try 100+ routes at openfeed.eu/playground, against a sandbox with example data or the live API with your own token. Every request is shown as cURL, JavaScript and PHP.
• Sign users in with OAuth and PKCE on openfeed.eu. Your app never sees a password, and people bring one account to every app.
• Bring a space into your own site or app: GET /v1/spaces/{slug}/feed gives you its timeline as JSON.
• Generate a client from the OpenAPI 3.1 spec. API changes are announced at least 60 days ahead.
The rules for apps are short: show posts in the order the API returns them (no re-ranking), respect content warnings and closed replies, and show image descriptions. That keeps the network calm and chronological, whichever app people use.
Just want a better feed?
Use the app at openfeed.eu: a chronological feed, public and private spaces, DMs and polls. No ads, no profiling, hosted in the EU, free.
Honest status
It's live. A few hundred people use it, most of them Dutch. Right now OpenFeed is me: one maker in the Netherlands, with the company being set up. App registration is still done by hand. Mail developers@openfeed.eu with your app's name and redirect URI, and I'll get you a client ID the same day.
Why not federation? I've run a fediverse server and I love what it proved. But on a federated network, deleting a post means asking every server to delete its copy. OpenFeed is open at the edges and accountable in the middle. Happy to go deeper in the replies.
One question for builders: what would you build on a social network that's fully open by API?
I really like this network. It's user friendly, and totally transparant. Most importantly: no Big Tech involved, no ads and no algorithms.
I enjoy finding new connections on OpenFeed. The Spaces offer accounts that share interests, so I can easily follow whomever I want to connect with.
Highly recommended.
@desiree_tonino Hi Desiree! It's great to see you here, and on OpenFeed. Thanks for the support! 🙌
