Keyboard Testing is a free online keyboard tester that shows which keys register as you press them, so you can quickly spot dead, stuck, or double-typing keys. It’s built for anyone checking a new keyboard, troubleshooting a faulty one, or buying a used one. What makes it different: match the test to your board with Windows or Mac, ANSI or ISO, and full-size, TKL, 75%, or 60% layouts, and hold multiple keys to test ghosting. It runs in your browser and key presses are never sent anywhere.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I’m Ema, and I built keyboardtesting.online
Why I built it. I spilled something on my MacBook and some keys stopped working. The existing testers I found online worked, but felt outdated and lacked a good Mac layout, so I built my own version.
What it does. Keyboard Testing is a free, browser-based keyboard tester. Press a key and it lights up on screen. You can check for dead or stuck keys, review recent inputs for double typing, and hold several keys together to test for ghosting.
- Windows and Mac modes
- ANSI and ISO layouts, plus JIS for Apple keyboards
- Full-size, TKL, 75%, and 60% sizes, with separate options for Apple models
- Multi-key testing, to check for ghosting
- Key presses are processed locally in your browser
- No account or installation needed
A note on limits. Browsers can’t see every key. Fn and Globe keys, and some shortcuts reserved by the OS or browser, may not register. The site explains this on the page.
What I’d love feedback on:
1. Does the layout match your keyboard? I’m especially curious about ISO and compact boards.
2. Is anything confusing or behaving unexpectedly? Your keyboard model and browser would help me track it down.
3. What’s missing that you’d find useful?
Thanks for taking a look 🙏
