Old Light is a slow strategy game in a shared galaxy. Build a system, scout neighbours, send fleets, and return to see what changed while you were away.

How does timing work when sending fleets between systems, is it strictly turn based or can I check in on things mid-move without breaking the pacing?
@hakkdinolxata Hi! You can check in on things mid move, even recall your fleet if you decided not to attack. It takes a little while for your fleet to reach your destination.
How long do fleets typically take to return so you can actually see the galaxy shift in a meaningful way?
@berendmy1 Depending on the ship type and distance, we're talking 10 minutes to hours.
The asynchronous pacing really clicked for me, came back after a few hours to find a neighbor had quietly expanded into my territory. Felt like a proper slow burn without being punishing.
Love how the pacing lets the galaxy breathe between moves, makes checking back in feel like opening a letter rather than refreshing a feed. The shared world concept is executed really well.
