Hey Product Hunt! Daniel here, I’m one of the co-founders of Nutrify, along with my brother Josh (@josh_bourke). This is our first product launch together so we’re very excited. Nutrify is a food education and discovery tool. One of our mottos is “take a photo of food and learn about it.” It's like the Pokédex but for food. Or like Shazam. But for for food. Nutrify uses computer vision to identify different foods and then provides relevant information such as nutrition and storage tips (and more in the future). Our goal is to make learning about whole foods fun. And in turn, hopefully reduce the consumption of ultra-processed foods. As such, the ideal user of Nutrify is someone who wants to learn more about food in a fun interactive way. One use case we’ve seen is a parent teaching their kids about different foods at the supermarket/in the kitchen. Nutrify can read out different food descriptions as well as their nutrition summaries which is very helpful for a younger audience. Key features include: • 📸 Identify whole foods with your camera. • 📔 Create a Visual Food Diary. • 🔍 Discover new foods and collect food icons on your way to completing the Nutridex (there’s 420 foods so far). • 📊 Get stats and trends of your food habits over time. We’re a small team (2 developers + 1 part-time designer). I do the machine learning and nutrition side of things. I studied food science and nutrition at university and teach machine learning online, Nutrify is the love child of these two. And Josh does the iOS side of things (Nutrify is iOS only for now). We’re based in Australia so Nutrify has a focus on whole foods available to us. But we’ll be looking to expand this to many more foods over time. Nutrify is free to use for up to 20 photos without an account. And unlimited photos with an account. The stats and trends feature is a paid upgrade. Finally, Nutrify works on the premise of one food, one photo. Of course we’ve got plans to expand this to multiple foods in the near future. We’d love to hear if you’ve got any suggestions on what foods to add to Nutrify. Also, if you do try it, we’re all ears to how it could be improved!
