Numsy stands out from other calculator apps mainly because of its focus on speed and minimal friction. While many calculators work as traditional apps that require opening from the dock or switching windows, Numsy lives directly in the menu bar, allowing instant access without interrupting your workflow.
I built Numsy because I was looking for a simple calculator that I could access instantly from the menu bar, without breaking my workflow. Most of the apps I tried either lived in the dock or felt too heavy for something I just needed for quick calculations.
So I decided to make my own.
The goal was simple: zero friction. Open it instantly, do the math, and move on. During development, I kept stripping things down to the essentials while still adding features that are actually useful day-to-day, like shortcuts, history, and percentages.
It’s not trying to be the most powerful calculator — just the fastest and easiest one to access.
