Cheap Dopamine is slowly rotting your life! You sit to do some deep work, and you don't even last 10 minutes ;). The phone is in your hand, and you slave your life away to an algorithm. By now, you must have realised getting distracted from deep work is a sin! Nudgr was born when I went through this journey and realised that I am losing my life to algorithms and doomscrolling. I wanted to create a system/tool that can- 1. Limit my phone use during deep work - Imagine you decide to study or work for 3 hours straight. But most of us lead very dynamic lives and need to use our phones even during focus sessions. Nudgr helps you limit phone use by setting an interval timer. Let's say the interval timer = 2 minutes. Every time you use your phone during a focus session beyond 2 minutes, Nudgr nudges you to put away your phone. And the Nudge happens with the image of your choice (basically, an image from a library of images you selected pops up). 2. Help me track my behaviour in NUMBERS! - How helpful would it be if an app let me know at a session level - (the number of phone locks/unlocks, the number of times I used my phone beyond the interval timer, and the number of times reminders were shown to me, the number of times I failed to keep my phone down during a focus session, etc). Yes, I built this for myself, and now I am launching it for the world! 3. Repeatedly remind me why I focus - A lot of you are trying to make yourself, your life, or your circumstances better. And the majority of you end up being just a data point for all the social media giants who have normalised (very smartly, I must say) the wasteful art of doomscrolling. By the time you get off your phone, it's too late! You postpone your to-dos for the next hour/day. Nudgr reminds you why you started. Before you set up the app, you are required to upload at least one image. It can be an image of your goal, your family, a quote...whatever keeps you going. During focus sessions, every time you unlock your phone, the interval timer begins. If you do not put away your phone by the end of the interval timer, the app nudges you with one of the images you selected (the image pops up), reminding you to get back to work. And voila!! In a few days, observe how your brain starts to rewire itself to focus. Also, let me share an anecdote from my journey while building Nudgr. I call it - No Gamification, Just Accountability. While I was brainstorming and testing the app, one feature everyone wanted to have was some sort of points/leaderboards. But in my head, I wanted an app that had no cheap thrills! Just data to analyse and steps to take. I chose to go my way. Just like I held myself accountable, I hope you hold yourself accountable too! So yes! This is my story. Raw and simple. I hope this app gives you a taste of what I achieved.
