Hey everyone 👋 I’m one of the co-founders of Novel Mage. This started because I kept seeing writers around me struggle with the same thing: They had great ideas. They even had AI tools. But they still couldn’t finish their books. Most tools were good at generating text… but not at helping you actually move forward in a story. They’d lose context, sound generic, or just turn into prompt machines. So we decided to build something that feels less like “using AI” and more like having a system that understands your book. Novel Mage is a fully downloadable, offline-first writing app (with optional self-hosting), designed to stay with your manuscript and not reset every time you open it. A few things we focused on: An agent chat that tracks your manuscript, so you can ask questions about your story anytime Style-aware writing, so it sounds like you, not AI Character interviews to explore motivations and arcs naturally Reader personas to simulate feedback before you publish A flexible “jailbreak” system so you’re not stuck with safe, boring outputs And a pay-once, use-forever option (because subscriptions don’t make sense for everyone) This won’t magically write your book. But it should make the process feel a lot less overwhelming and help you actually get to “The End.” We’re still early, and I’d genuinely love feedback especially from writers who’ve struggled to stay consistent or finish a draft.
