Learn a language while you play on PC or Mac. Noun Town is an award-winning language learning game on Steam -- pick up Japanese, Spanish, French, Chinese, German and more through mini-games, puzzles and spaced repetition.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I made Noun Town because I kept bouncing off language apps. They all felt like homework - streaks, points, lessons. I wanted something that felt like actually playing a game.
The core idea: you explore an interactive town, interact with objects, and pick up vocabulary naturally through the world around you. The town starts in black and white. Every word you learn restores color to part of it. After a few sessions it looks noticeably different - which gives you a real sense of progress without tracking anything manually.
We support 12 languages right now: Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Greek, Egyptian Arabic, and English. You can switch between them any time.
It's been used by 200,000+ people across the game series, picked up three awards, and sits at 87% positive on Steam - which honestly still surprises me.
Happy to answer anything - how the spaced repetition works, how we handle non-Latin scripts, why we skipped the subscription model, whatever. Ask away.
