NostalgicPod ā is an offline Android music player for people who still want to own their music. No subscriptions, no ads, no accounts, no cloud sync, no tracking, no algorithmic feed. Just your local music, your device, and a classic wheel-based interface.
It's now available on Google Play!: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nostalgicpod.app

Love this idea! Classic feel and song. Problem is - I don't have any music since switching to Spotify years ago. I wonder if you could create a version using the Spotify APIs so they could host it and I could use your app to listen!
@jon_w1Ā Hey Jonathan, thanks!
The whole idea was to bring back that iPod era where you owned your music and didn't depend on streaming, so Spotify isn't really the direction I'm going.
The Spotify thing actually comes up a lot. It's technically possible but tricky: on mobile, Spotify only lets third-party apps remote-control their app in the background (Premium only), and they tightened their API this year with a 5-user cap unless you apply for special access. So a full Spotify-powered version isn't really on the table.
But there's cool stuff coming, like a "Discover" section where I'd love to spotlight good indie bands and musicians from Bandcamp, since platforms like Spotify or Tidal don't give them much real visibility.

Hey Jesus!
Leaving this review here for others to see :)
I really enjoyed this app! It does a great job of capturing the full iPod experience! and the controls feel smooth and intuitive to use. Everything just feels natural, and it's clear a lot of thought went into recreating the experience. I also like the customization options, which let you tweak things, and the screen layout is clean and easy to read. It has been very stable in my experience.
One thing I especially appreciate is that the developer is open to feedback and actively listens to users. It's always nice to see that level of engagement and support.
This app delivers exactly what it promises. Looking forward to future updates and new features, and I can definitely see myself using this app for a long time!
PS: Asked gpt for assistance in correcting my grammar hehe also I am not a bot :)
