Two-way Quick Share between Mac and compatible Android, from a native menu-bar app. Includes Android USB MTP, Finder sharing, QR tools, and Windows Quick Share tested both ways with one PC in a Debug build. macOS 14+; free download.

Hi Product Hunt — I’m Arslan, and I made Nearby Drop because moving a file between a Mac and Android phone shouldn’t require a cloud detour.
Nearby Drop lives in the macOS menu bar. On a reachable local network, it sends and receives with compatible Android Quick Share devices. It also includes an Android USB MTP browser for browsing, uploading, and downloading; a Finder Share extension for files, folders, and links; and QR tools.
I’ve tested Android ↔ Mac wireless transfers with a Pixel 8 Pro, and USB MTP browse, upload and download on Pixel and Nexus. Windows Quick Share worked both ways with one PC in a Debug build; the packaged release and wider Windows compatibility still need testing. The Android QR scanner reads the code, but the Pixel receive handshake still fails, so the device-list or USB route is the workaround.
It’s macOS 14+, Intel and Apple silicon, free to download under a proprietary license. The current DMG is ad hoc signed and may prompt a Gatekeeper warning; install notes are on the site.
If you try it, tell me your Mac and phone or PC model, and whether discovery and transfer work on your network. I’m using that feedback to test the edge cases next.
