Hey everyone,
I’ve been working on an Android music player called NAVIX (under the NEXTLEVEL), and I’m finally ready to share it and get some feedback.
My main goal was to build a player that doesn't just play music but visually reacts to it, matching the premium feel of Spotify or Apple Music, but with a unified engine for both your local files and online streams.
Here is a breakdown of what the app currently offers:
🎨 The Visuals & UI
Dynamic Gemini-Style Color Engine: The background isn't static. The app extracts the primary and secondary palettes from the currently playing album art and renders a live, multi-stop gradient mesh (using custom GPU-rendered AlbumGlowView and AuroraView particle layers).
Glassmorphism & Cinematic Layouts: Features a frosted-glass bottom navigation, translucent floating mini-player, and a massive cinematic hero banner on the Home Screen.
Smooth Animations: Implements heavy use of scroll parallax, pulsating background meshes, and custom ValueAnimators for seamless cross-fading when songs change.
🎵 Core Features
Hybrid Playback: Plays both local device audio (M4A/MP3) and streams directly from YouTube (powered by a custom NewPipe extractor implementation).
Smart Feeds: Real-time Firestore database integration serving live feeds for Billboard Top, Trending Now, and New Releases.
Unified Library: Manage local tracks, online streams, and favorites in one place.
Cloud Sync: Likes, histories, and custom playlists are backed up via Firebase and synced across your devices.
Bottom-Sheet Architecture: Quick add-to-playlist, queue management, and track downloading without leaving your current screen.
