Love the focus on calm reading and the on-device summaries, that combo is exactly what HN needs on mobile. One idea: a small "thread pulse" indicator at the top of each story showing how active the discussion has been in the last hour, so I can tell at a glance whether it's worth jumping in now or saving for later.

The on-device thread summaries are surprisingly useful for catching up without scrolling forever, and the Story Rules feature feels like something I didn't know I needed.
