What do you think? …

Hi, my name is Michal and I have built Native Dialogs for those who, like me, enjoy practising languages through simulated dialogs. Native Dialogs publishes one pre-scripted chat ever day in French, German, Irish and Czech. The chats are generated by a Large Language Model and then post-edited by a human (that's me). I think that simulated dialogs are a great way to pick up the kind of vocabulary and expressions you can actually use in everyday situations. I hope I'm not alone in being a fan of this way of learning languages!

Hey Michal, this is awesome! Love the idea of using simulated dialogs to practice languages—it’s like having a personal language coach on speed dial. The daily chats in multiple languages really make it easy to build that consistency we all need for language learning. Besides, who doesn't love a good chat with a virtual buddy? Can’t wait to test this out and see how it amps up my vocabulary. Definitely upvoting this! Keep shipping those scripts!

Thank you for your kind words. I’m having as much fun preparing those chat transcripts as other have using them! Yes, as you say, consistency and perseverance are important in language learning. I know there are people on Native Dialogs who come in every day and do the three or so latest chats each day. That way they end up doing each chat a good few times. This is called “spaced repetition” in language learning theory and it’s *the* way to make sure the words and expressions stick in your memory for good. But then there are users who don’t have that level of self-discipline. I think I haven’t yet found the perfect recipe to keep those motivated. There are daily reminder e-mails but I’m not sure if that’s enough. Any tips? :-)

Hey Michal, this is such an innovative approach to language learning! The idea of using pre-scripted chats to practice with virtual humans is a game changer. It’s awesome to see how you've combined AI with human touch in Native Dialogs. Daily chats in multiple languages like French, German, Irish, and Czech could really help learners get comfortable with real-life conversations. I totally agree that simulated dialogs can enhance vocabulary and expressions for everyday use. Looking forward to seeing how this platform evolves! Just curious, will there be any interactive features in the future? Upvoted!

Thank you! Like every good innovation it's actually a rehash of an old idea: we were using simulated dialogs in my English (as a second language) class when I was a lot younger than I am now. :-)

Regarding your question on interactive features, @ezshine, you mean even more interactive than it is now? Or what do you mean? I'm totally open to ideas and suggestions!

This is such a neat concept, Michal! I'm all for learning through practical conversations! Simulated dialogs definitely help bridge that gap between textbook vocabulary and real-world usage. Plus, having a fresh chat every day keeps things exciting. Do you plan to include any gamification elements or community features? I could totally see this idea catching fire on PH! Keep up the great work, can't wait to see where you take Native Dialogs next! 🚀

Thank you for your kind comment. I haven’t decided yet how best to gamify the experience so it becomes habit-forming, but without overdoing it so it doesn’t become silly. Same goes for any community features. If you have any clever suggestions, I’m all ears.
