Hi Product Hunt, Brian here. Solo founder.
Every December there is a moment in a store aisle where you realize you have no idea whether you need two more strands of lights or six. You buy four. Two go in a bin in the garage next to the four from last year.
I built My Christmas Plan because decorating is a series of small decisions made in the wrong order, and a plan is the same decisions made once, before anything is bought.
How it works:
- Add up to four photos of your home: the front of the house and the rooms that matter.
- Pick a look (classic, natural, minimalist) and a budget tier.
- Give it a few rough measurements: roofline, tree height, mantel, stair rail, how many shrubs.
It hands back your own spaces decorated in that style, a shopping list where every quantity is computed from your numbers (100 bulbs per foot of tree, one C9 per foot of roofline, 9-foot garland sections with drape), what it should cost against what households actually spend, and a dated timeline from "buy now, before the good sets sell out" to "pack it so next year is easy." If your roofline is over 80 feet it tells you to get a quote rather than climb, because nearly half of holiday decorating injuries are falls.
You can try it here: holidayhomeideas.com/christmas/plan
It is free. The plan lands in your inbox with a link you can forward to whoever is helping. If you would rather see a finished one before uploading anything, here is a full plan for a sample house: holidayhomeideas.com/christmas/plan/example
A few honest notes:
- The renders are AI (Flux Kontext). They are good at "this house, decorated" and occasionally invent a window. Treat them as a mood board with your house in it, not a contractor drawing.
- The product links are Amazon affiliate links. That is how the site pays for the renders, which cost real money per plan.
- It is US-centric on pricing right now.
One sillier thing in there, if you have a minute: the light show maker turns a photo of your house into a video of it covered in lights, every bulb flashing in time to Carol of the Bells. Your phone does the animating and makes the video, so it is ready for TikTok or the family group chat: holidayhomeideas.com/christmas/tools/christmas-light-show
I would genuinely like to know what you would want it to do that it does not. Ask me anything.
