A free, browser-based MPEG-DASH player built for testing, debugging, and demonstrating live and on-demand streams. Paste any compatiblempd URL and play it with dash.js. Monitor real-time playback metrics, including bitrate, resolution, buffer health, bandwidth, dropped frames, and live latency. Test Widevine and PlayReady DRM streams with compatible browsers and license servers. No installation, no signup, and no video uploads. Just paste your stream URL and start testing.

Hey Product Hunt!
We're excited to launch another free tool from VdoCipher: MPEG-DASH Player.
Why we built this
At VdoCipher, we've spent 10+ years building video infrastructure, helping thousands of platforms securely host, protect, and stream their content.
One challenge we kept encountering while working with video developers and streaming teams was how difficult it can be to test and debug MPEG-DASH streams.
You have an .mpd URL. You want to check whether it plays, see which video representations are available, understand why the player keeps buffering, or investigate why adaptive bitrate switching isn't working as expected.
But opening an MPD URL directly in your browser doesn't work like opening a regular MP4 file.
Unlike HLS, MPEG-DASH doesn't have native browser playback support. You need a JavaScript player such as dash.js, and understanding what's happening during playback often requires additional debugging tools or custom code.
Sometimes you just want to paste a URL and immediately see what's going on.
So we built something simpler.
A free MPEG-DASH player that lets you play, inspect, and debug DASH streams directly in your browser, powered by dash.js.
Here's what it can do:
Play Live & VOD streams: Paste a compatible MPEG-DASH .mpd URL and start playback using dash.js and HTML5 video.
Real-time playback analytics: Monitor resolution, bitrate, estimated bandwidth, buffer health, dropped frames, and live latency.
Inspect video representations: View available quality levels and manually switch between representations to test adaptive bitrate behavior.
Debug playback issues: Track manifest loading, stream initialization, fragment downloads, quality switches, and playback errors through a detailed debug console.
Raw MPD manifest viewer: Inspect the actual XML manifest to troubleshoot representation configurations, segment references, and other manifest issues.
Customize player configuration: Adjust buffer settings, bitrate limits, automatic quality switching, low-latency catch-up, and other dash.js parameters.
DRM playback testing: Test Widevine and PlayReady encrypted streams using your own compatible license server.
Share and integrate: Generate shareable test links or copy ready-to-use JavaScript, HTML5, and cURL examples.
This is our first version, and we'd love your feedback.
We're especially interested in what would make this more useful for developers working with MPEG-DASH.
Tell us what you think. We're actively improving the tool and would love to shape the roadmap around real streaming problems.
