Hi Product Hunt! I built Motion because I was frustrated with two things: Notion locks your data in their cloud, and Obsidian doesn't have a web-based collaborative interface. I wanted something that gives you Notion's editing UX with complete data ownership — your notes are just markdown files in a GitHub repo. The part I'm most excited about is the built-in MCP server. It runs entirely in your browser via WebSocket, which means any AI agent (Claude, GPT, custom bots) can connect and read/write your knowledge base in real time. No server infrastructure needed — your browser tab IS the API. Motion is MIT licensed and fully open source.
