Hi Product Hunt! π
We're a small team in Japan, and we kept running into the same problem: almost everyone we know has tried a budgeting app, and almost everyone quit within a few weeks. Logging expenses just isn't fun.
So we flipped it around. In Moneypet, logging an expense is how you play. Each entry earns food for your pet, and your pet reacts with a short comment about your spending β sometimes sweet, sometimes a little savage, depending on the personality you give it.
Food also unlocks the fun stuff:
βοΈ your pet travels to real landmarks around the world and sends you letters (with local prices!)
π₯ hatch real insects from eggs and complete a shared global encyclopedia
βοΈ foes show up when you log, and defeated ones can join your party
Under the hood it's a real budgeting app: chat/voice entry ("lunch $8"), receipt scanning, recurring payments, family sharing, multi-currency, reports and CSV import. It's free to use, in 10 languages.
A fun way families use it: hand your receipts to your kid. They play β snapping receipts, feeding the pet, battling foes β and you end up with a full monthly report without lifting a finger. Then go through the report together: "Where did our money go this month?" It turns into a natural money lesson for kids. π§Ύπ§
We'd love your honest feedback β especially from people who have given up on budgeting before. What would make you keep logging? πΎ
