I built Money Plan because I kept failing at every budgeting app I tried — not because they were bad, but because they made me work too hard to understand my own money. The real problem wasn't tracking. It was understanding. I'd open YNAB or Mint, stare at charts and categories, and still walk away not knowing the simple answer to: "Am I actually spending too much on food this month?" The data was all there. I just couldn't talk to it. So I built the thing I actually wanted: a personal finance app where you log your expenses and income like normal — and then just ask questions. "How much did I spend on transport last month?" "What's my biggest expense category?" "Compare my spending in March vs April." The AI reads your real data and answers in plain language. No charts to decode, no manual math, no spreadsheet exports. How the project evolved: I started with just the tracking side — clean expense and income logs, categories, accounts. That part worked well. But the moment I added the AI chat and asked it "where did my money go this month?" and it actually told me — I realized that was the whole product. Everything else is just feeding it good data. Why free? YNAB costs $180/year. Copilot is $156/year. Most people who need a budget app are trying to save money — charging them a subscription to do that felt backwards. Money Plan is completely free, no paywalls, no premium tier.
