Hi Product Hunters! I’m super happy to present my side project, Mondo! I started Mondo a while ago to solve a big problem I faced: whenever a colleague wanted to schedule a work meeting, I needed to be sure there was no good surf at that exact time. So, I needed the surf forecast for my favorite surf spots directly in my Google Calendar to ensure I had nothing planned when the surf was good. That’s how it all started. For a couple of years, it has been used by me and a few friends, and recently I started marketing it to Italian surfers!

Hi @mashy on the topic of surf forecast accuracy: I'm currently using NOAA (by GFS) and ICON weather forecast services. To provide info about the good surf for each spot, these weather forecasts are matched with the specific features of each spot. I iterated a lot on this by building some backend tools that allow me to set these spots' features to get close to the maximum accuracy. For local spots (near where I live) I also personally iterated revisiting the settings for each spot. I plan to set up a system to gather info from surfers to improve each spot's settings. On the topic of coverage: I'm currently experimenting with Italy to understand how replicable the system is and how I can apply the same strategy to other European countries. Once I fine-tuned the strategy I'll start exporting to other European countries first and then also to other countries in the world. The most difficult area to work on is the US as Surfline (the main competitor) is very strong there and provides very accurate forecasts and services.
