Today I'm launching 🚀 my new Mac app in public beta:
Momoji is a Mac app to create emoji shortcuts. It makes typing emojis much faster than the built in Character Viewer or Touch Bar, and it works in any app (Chrome, Slack, Messages, Notes, etc). For listening to the shortcuts, Momoji uses the MacOS built-in shortcut system (a DefaultKeyBinding.dict file), so the app is sandboxed and doesn't need to run in the background.
Using the app (it's free!), you can create shortcuts for any key/emoji really easily (dragging any emoji from the right-hand side panel onto any key). For example if I use the clapping emoji 👏 often, I use the app to create a shortcut for the key "C" (the easiest way to remember the shortcut, although I could assign it to any other key). I can then type the emoji 👏👏👏👏 in any app using Option-C (on the US keyboard, Option-C is used to type "ç", not commonly used).
(To help remembering the shortcuts, I also made some tiny laser cut stickers — 1 white version, and 1 black version. There is a 20% discount valid until the end of June, using the code LAUNCHMOMOJI )
