Mobility Pages

I loved cars ever since childhood. My earliest memories are of my dad drawing doodles of side views of a funny looking car on a yellow letter pad. From that the interest evolved to picking up names of different car companies to vehicle models, their generations and then the tech and features that differentiated them. When I was exposed to the real deal of automotive industry through my experience at ARAI (automotive research association of India), the details of testing, research and certification enhanced the view of what went into building cars. But when I was intrigued with startups and focusing on the customer’s problem statement, the word ‘automotive’ melted into ‘mobility’ and I was able to scan the bigger picture by looking at how digital solutions were addressing new ways to solve demand and delivery of mobility; The problem wasn’t as easy as just building a fast Porsche or an affordable Toyota. For ex: look at how Uber impacted cars without building one! Looking at different companies has helped me widen my gaze to understand the applications of an engineer’s skills. Today the automotive world is merging at cross roads of other tech companies through connected data, electric mobility and autonomous vehicles; and understanding all the different types of companies leveraging these tools is the way to figure out your place in the puzzle. Either as an engineer designing it or an entrepreneur pitching it. I was compelled to give clarity on these types of companies to young minds who want to get into mobility; innovate and build.
