Open source and built for developers, it offers a rich SDK, measurement and markup tools, offline support, large-drawing performance, and export to self-contained HTML files. I've spent many years building CAD software, and one question kept coming back: why does viewing a DWG still require a heavyweight desktop application or uploading the file to a server? We started MLightCAD CAD Viewer to explore a different approach: make CAD truly native to the web. DWG/DXF parsing, data processing, rendering, measurement, markup, and editing can all happen directly in the browser. What started as a viewer has evolved into an open-source CAD engine and SDK for building web-based CAD applications. Along the way, we added offline support, self-contained HTML export, mobile support, and data source plugins. We're excited to see what others build with it. Feedback, ideas, and use cases are very welcome!
