Hi Product Hunt! š
I built Mishwaro because Palestinians have been without a reliable intercity transport app since Careem left in 2017. The gap that remained: informal WhatsApp groups, unverified strangers, and zero price transparency.
We chose the BlaBlaCar model ā cost-sharing carpooling, not a taxi service ā both because it fits Palestinian law better and because it's genuinely more affordable for daily commuters. A driver going Ramallah ā Nablus every day can cover their fuel cost by sharing 2-3 seats at āŖ30/seat. A passenger saves 70% vs a private taxi.
The hardest part wasn't the tech. It was building trust in a market where people are used to calling a cousin's friend for rides. Our driver verification system (license + insurance + registration + 2 selfies, reviewed by humans) was the answer.
What I'd love feedback on:
ā How do you build trust in a market where informal networks are deeply embedded?
ā What features would make you feel safe enough to ride with a stranger daily?
Happy to answer anything about building for emerging markets or the Palestinian tech ecosystem šµšø
