Most tools either spit out a phonetic transliteration (Emily → 艾米丽, which every Chinese speaker reads as foreign) or string together pretty characters no parent would ever choose. Mingzi tries to do it properly: • A directory of real names people actually use, with what each character means and notes on era and popularity (秀英 sounds like a grandma; 一诺 was a top baby name in 2020) • The 100 most common surnames, with how they're spelled in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia • A converter that shows the standard Chinese form of your English name, and says clearly when it's only approximate • A random generator that pairs real surnames with real given names • Audio on every name, so you can hear it Everything is free currently and needs no account.
